Ansel Adams (I apologize for the flag theme of the pictures, working on the 9/11 display consumed my entire week and time)
Going into July, I felt like I hadn’t accomplished much. Entering the third week, I feel like I’ve gotten something done.
At the beginning of the month, I went to a Leadership Conference which it is fair to say without exaggeration, changed my life. I learned some amazing things, found some fire for my life, and managed to bond with John, one of my best buds ever. I got to spend time with JP, Lloyd, and Glen back in Charlottesville. Glen is important here because I hadn’t talked to him in two years, and we are back on the terms of friends. I’ve begun talking with Deanna again, Maria K. is now one of my closest friends out of school and VA and Zac and I seem to finally have reached an understanding after two years. Seeing all my friends at home really lifted me up. On the other hand, my girlfriend broke up with me. It was deserved, as I haven’t been what she needed, and I wronged her badly. She needs the space, and she definitely doesn’t need me. As sad as that may make me feel, I know I can get on in time. I needed her, but I let that slip. Stupid, stupid mistake. I should have started the repair of my relationship with her, rather than saving the hardest problem for last. Anyways, that’s life, and the world turns onward. The world didn’t end, I didn’t die, she didn’t die, and everything goes on. So all is well. I gotta just learn from my mistakes. Which are pathetically numerous.
Just today I went back to running, and I’m starting my routine for Airborne level fitness. I’m quite excited about this again. I really want to follow in Dick Winter’s footsteps.
It’s summer, so yeah, I said I’d restart my blog, but there’s not too much to report. So instead of daily posts, I’ve decided on probably more infrequent weekly type posts. I’ve been a bit off, haven’t posted anything serious since Six Flags. Anyways, here goes…
In the last weeks, some cool stuff has gone down. I organized the CIS soccer team’s first practice. We had a decent attendance, six people, which was everyone in town that could be there. So I was happy with that. Didn’t do a whole lot else but mess around. Pretty glad to see some enthusiasm.
Otherwise, some teenage stupidity, arguments and angst, and then an awesome day with Zac. Picked him up, ate at Denny’s, talked some sh*t out that needed talking out, checked out soccer stuff at MC Sports, got candy, sat in Target and talked, played Halo Reach, and laughed a helluva lot. Best Black man/pastor impersonations ever.
Here’s an excerpt for your enjoyment.
Woman: I’m cold…
Man: Then put a damn blanket off.
Woman: I’m hot now.
Man: Then take your damn clothes off and solve both our problems.
Pastor: Now, we all know that Jesus walked on water. Now who walks on water?
Congregation: ???
Pastor: NINJAS! Therefore, what was Jesus?
Congregation: A Ninja?
Pastor: Well, what are ninjas? JAPANESE? Therefore, by the transitive property, Jesus was a Japanese Ninja! And who’s ass did we whoop in WWII? JAPAN!!!!
Congregation: HELL YEAH! AMEN!
Zac: You know what happens when you get outta jail? You go on something called “parole”. That’s a fancy term for, “if you so much as cross the street, some skinny a@@ white man will be all over yo a**.”
Ex:
*Black man crosses street.*
Police officer: HEY WHAT YOU DOING! DID YOU JUST CROSS THE STREET?
Black man: Yes I did!
Police officer: Get yo ass back in jail!
Black man: Ughhnhhh….dammit….
Anyways, that’s just a bit of what I could remember. Today, went out to KC, shopped around, ate lunch at an amazing Italian restaurant, met the owner, who sounded like a stereotypical mafioso man, checked out the new Kansas speedway and soccer stadium (which by the way, is beautiful) and picked some stuff up at Costco, and came home. And here I am.
Maybe some more stuff by Sunday, gotta run, nature is calling.

So today, we went to Six Flags St.Louis. Aside from waiting for Nells for 30 minutes, I was pleasantly surprised at how many people I liked were on the bus and how few I disliked were on. On the way, sat with my girlfriend.
When we got there, the girls showed why we men mock all of womankind. They broke their pinky promises to us that they’d come to the waterpark with us. So we didn’t see them until like 1PM. So at 10:30, we rode The Batman, which was awesome. After that, we stripped down and went into the water park for a sausage fest.
I say “sausage fest” because it was just the men. Myself and 10 boys went in. Cody, Zac, Jacob and I went on the Tornado. Twice. The first time, was cool. The second was awesome. Jacob nearly died by flying off the raft, because we put the heavy people (Zac and Cody) on the same side. Cody’s face when he realized he was going down backwards was priceless.
After that, we went down the water slides, and raced on the racing slides. Which was fun. But then, the moment came.
So the Big Kahuna. It’s a ride at the top of something like a five story climb. We got up there, and then SIX of us, got into one raft. We were worried about the 1,000 pound limit since we were at nearly 950. Anyways, little did we know, we’re only supposed to have five people. So we get on, go down, and on the first drop/turn, we nearly flew out. This near death on the curves continued all the way to the bottom. It was awesome, yet terrifying. Jacob Tarrant, atheist and sadist extraordinare, had a Jesus moment. Anyways, then we ate, finally saw the girls for a moment, and while we were standing in the plaza, Zac got shit on by a bird. PRICELESS. After he cleaned up, we went over to the Screaming Eagle, which we rode AFTER bumper cars. Except it wasn’t bumper cars. It was an attack on me. All the guys chased me around, and eventually formed a military flanking formation, and got me :P Then Tony Hawk Pandemonium thing, which was cool, then Excalibur with Tarrant, Katherine, Trevs and me, which was awesome. After that…good lord I think we ate funnel cakes and drank a lotta soda. Thank God for free refils.
Anyways, even though the girls, including my girlfriend, basically didn’t interact with me at all, it was a blast. Got back on the bus, sat with my main man Zac and behind Cody my other dude. Cody and I talked about rims and cars and junk. Then we started playing the car game. Basically, we looked for yellow cars, and whoever sees the car gets to caress someone else. It was great. We gave up on the caressing, but Zac and I did it the whole way home. Even though the cars basically all started looking yellow, it was a ton of fun. I eventually triumphed, 37 cars to 40. Fun stuff. Got to school, came home, and am now going to sleep.
Nighty night,

Shoutout to my boys: Tarrant, Kein, Julian, Rotts, Trevs, Parks, Zac, Harrison, Motsi and Cody.
With a real true sense of finality, I can now say, goodbye and good luck CIS Class of 2011. Graduation tonight was truly nice, and it was an honor to be there. The speeches were awesome, and it was nice to hear everyone tell their stories.
I told you I’d post again. So more later? If not tomorrow then Saturday.
Peace out.
